A lot of agents tell me they’re doing everything they’re supposed to. They’re making the calls, following up with their leads, and staying consistent. But they still feel stuck. I’ve been there myself when I was starting, and I’ve noticed that the problem usually isn’t a lack of effort, but rather the environment.

Who you’re surrounded by makes a bigger difference than most people realize. If you’ve been in the same environment for years, you might not realize that it’s not conducive to your business and your personal growth. Here’s what happens when you’re surrounded by the wrong people:

Success is contagious. Being around people who are focused, productive, and closing deals creates momentum. You pick up their habits. You adopt their mindset. You stay driven. That kind of energy lifts everyone. The opposite is also true. If the people around you are constantly negative or always talking about what is not working, that starts to affect how you think and how you show up.

Even if you are one of the top producers in your office, if no one else is growing, you may find yourself hitting a ceiling. Comfort can be just as limiting as negativity. Growth comes from being in a space where people are winning at the level you want to reach.

You don’t need to know everything. Many agents feel stuck because they believe they need to have all the answers, and that is not true. What you need is access to people and resources that can help you find the answers.

Early in my career, I repeated one phrase to myself often. As long as I know where to find the information, I can present myself as the expert. That helped me build confidence and deliver value to clients without feeling like I had to do it all on my own. I pass that mindset on to the agents I work with now. You do not need to be an expert on everything. You need to stay connected and know who to contact when something unexpected arises.

Structure and support. A strong environment provides more than motivation. It offers systems, leadership, and a clear growth path. You need people who are actively in the business and willing to share what works. You need a structure that keeps you productive and training that addresses what is happening right now.

You also need accountability and tools that help you stay consistent. Without these, progress is slower. With the proper support, everything moves more efficiently. You do not waste time guessing what to do next.
